Women's Team

FRANKLIN WOMAN'S TEAM

Franklin formed a FUYA academy U16 Girls team in 2018 with a view to creating a pathway for local girls to progress to a competitive senior team.   In 2020, the nucleus of the Girls team united with talented players from the Franklin member clubs to become the inaugural Women’s team, competing in NRF Div 2.

This team was promoted in 2021 into Div 1 when a space became available, on the back of their solid results in the NRF Women's KO Cup and making it through to the top 16 teams in the NZF Kate Shepherd KO Cup.  Although the 2021 season was cut short, the Women's strong performance over the season gained them a 2022 spot in the newly formed NRF Conference/League One division.

Uniting the Women’s and Girls team under Franklin Utd provides a clear pathway for our female players coming up through the Junior and Youth sections of both our Youth Academy and our member clubs.  We strengthen links with squad training and the opportunity for Youth Girls to have valuable playing time in Senior games.  This is a fantastic development for Franklin United and we are thrilled our female pathway now mirrors the established male pathway.
